Pre-K/Kindergarten Round Up for the 2025-26 school year

Is Your Child Eligible?

A child is eligible for enrollment in prekindergarten if he or she is at least four years of age by September 1st of 2025 and meets at least one of the following criteria:

·         Unable to speak or comprehend the English language

·         Is eligible to participate in the national free or reduced-price lunch program

·         Homeless

·         The child of an active duty member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or the reserves

·         The child of a member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or the reserves, who was injured or killed while serving on active duty

·         Is or ever has been in foster care

·         The child of a police officer, firefighter, or emergency medical responder seriously injured or killed in the line of duty and received the Star of Texas Award

·         Receives SNAP, TANF, or SSI.

A child is eligible for enrollment in kindergarten if he or she is at least five years of age by September 1st of 2025.

Documentation Needed

All Qualifiers
Birth Certificate, Proof of Address, Parent ID, Immunization Record

Income Qualifiers – Income Eligibility Guidelines

One of the Following: Current paycheck stub, Current tax return if self-employed, or Current TANF or SNAP eligibility letter

Language Qualifiers 

Fill out Home Language Survey (provided by school)

Foster Care Qualifiers

Verification Letter of Prekindergarten Eligibility form DFPS

Star of Texas Award Qualifiers

Copy of the resolution (certificate) awarded to parent of child

Military Qualifiers: One of the following: Verification of U.S. Department of Defense photo I.D., Statement of service, Copy of death certificate, Copy of Purple Heart orders, Copy of official letter from commander, Copy of a letter from US Dept. of Veteran’s Affairs, Documentation that service member is MIA.
